Entrepreneurship: management goes beyond gestation

2009.05.28

Starting a new business is more than a challenge, it’s like giving life to something that inhabits uncontrollable minds decided to win. Despite being a process of gestation, birth and creation, it goes slowly and requires great dedication, many pursue success thru entrepreneurship.
Data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) shows that among 100 Brazilians with ages going from 18 to 64 years, about 13 have some entrepreneurial activity, either in trade or in the service sector. These numbers make Brazil the ninth position in the ranking of countries with highest number of people opening businesses.
However, if it is so difficult to build and make it work, why these numbers grow that much? Innovation or necessity? You can already tell that neither of these individually reflects in absolute success. As it is essential to present to the market something different or unique, it is also important that the demand to make the business is present.
The solitary life of an entrepreneur begins as an embryo. The pregnancy is in vitro; we only have our own ideas and our own goals. The autonomy to decide how we want our son to be is as liberating as suffocating. Its evolution depends only on the head of the creator, who is the entrepreneur. The biggest motivation is internal, part of ourselves. The main factor for the implementation and execution of a business is the desire to do. If today, with less than 30 years entrepreneurs achieve success, it's only by themselves.
Customers, agents and supporters are crucial in the development process as well as public power, which little by little point to this emerging reality in the country. In the last week the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade has committed to examine the proposal of creating a committee to discuss policies to encourage entrepreneurship. It is about time considering that Brazil has 15 million registered businesses in activity last year.
To follow the steps for success there are no recipes or formulas. It’s with our own motivation, being passionate about creating a business that is applicable to the society, and valuing the work that has begun. It only keeps going if you keep observing the needs of the market. It only consolidates with support from all who follow the battle and decide to participate as allies that not compete with each other. Confidence and enjoying for what you do are still the best expertise.
